True Gem in Walnut Creek

Project Scope

Signage

Wayfinding

Space Planning

Ruth Bancroft Garden is a small gem tucked away in Walnut Creek area of East Bay. Once planted by Mrs. Ruth Bancroft in 1972, it is now a non-profit that houses not only varieties of succulents and cacti but serves as a center for education, event space, a greenhouse as well as a shop.

Nervy was approached to create a system of environmental graphics such as cards, informational signage, and banners, and to improve the retail experience in order to boost the sales of succulents and promotional merchandise.

Shelving and displays were re-designed to help organize plants by species, and a resting area with benches was introduced to provide contemplation space and shade.

System

A system of icons was placed on the plant descriptions for ease of use and information about the care of plants.
